I bought 2 TopsyTurvy tomato planters at Home Depot (wish I'd seen this site first!) and am hoping to plant this weekend. Hubby is installing pulleys so we can raise/lower the plants as needed for sun, harvest, etc. I'm planning on a Celebrity and a yellow, probably a Sun Gold. The deck the planters will hang from is already equipped with drip irrigation for my flower pots, so I'm wondering if I could put drippers in the planters for watering. The current drip schedule is approx 1/3 gal per dripper every other day, but if that's too much water for the tomato plants I could put a cut-off valve on the line to the tomato planters. It does get hot here in the summer (No. Calif.) and I've been reading that the TopsyTurvy planters tend to dry out...any suggestions? All advice greatly appreciated! Thanks.
