Trying to grow in New Mexico

Hi, I am a mom who homeschools 6 children. We just made 4 of these today. 2 were tomato and 1 was a chile pepper and 1 a green pepper. We also put some similar plants in regular containers. We are gardening for the first time in NM. I am originally from PA where tomatoes grow really well. We are planning on watering these every day and will put them somewhere they will get morning sun. We used miracle gro potting soil in all of them.I would appreciate any advice and we will let you know what happens. I hope the bird don't eat them.thanks, Rita and the Gang
